"Principal item in the collection is the Royal highway of the world manuscript, handwritten by Joaquin Miller on stationery from the Elkhorn Hotel, Canyon City, Oregon, signed and dated July 17, 1907, in which he describes a stage journey in 1907 from Canyon City to Burns, Oregon, over the road which was later named the Joaquin Miller Trail.

Abstract

The collection contains correspondence, photographs, printed materials, and manuscript materials from 1878-1941. Among the manuscript material is an unpublished manuscript titled �When I was Emperor.� All of the photographs are of Joaquin Miller, some accompanied by his daughter and Dr. Frederick Cook.

Abstract The Joaquin Miller (1837-1913) Collection of manuscripts and printed books was assembled by Willard Samuel Morse and purchased by the library in 1938. Morse's correspondence and typewritten notebooks concerning the collection are included. Printed matter includes approximately 125 items, either of first or limited editions, many beautifully illustrated, and some with laid-in autographs.
