Scope and Contents of the Collection

From the Collection:

This collection consists of propaganda posters from both World War I (1914-1918) and World War II (1939-1945). There are 144 posters from World War I and 186 posters from World War II. All of the posters represent perspectives from governments and organizations in Allied countries. While the majority of the posters in this collection are the products of the United States government, this collection includes some posters from Britain and France and from nongovernmental organizations like the American Library Association, the Red Cross, and private businesses. There are 330 posters in total, ranging in size from a 7 x 10 inch flyer to a 10-foot long banner. Most of the posters are 20-28 x 28-40 inches. The overall condition of the collection is good. When individual posters are in fragile condition, this has been indicated in a note.
