Scope and Contents of the Collection

From the Collection:

This collection consists of programs for musical and dramatic performances collected by Robert Robinson. Programs in this collection cover Theatre, Opera, Symphony, Ballet, and well-known individual performers across the musical spectrum. The programs come mainly from London, but also come from both Eastern and Western Europe and the United States. Large well-known productions such as the Salzburg Festival and Glyndebourne Festival Opera as well as well-known venues such as the Royal Opera House in Covent Gardens are prominently featured, but smaller venues are also common. Many programs in the collection feature well-known performers and/or conductors. A small contingent of play manuscripts sent to Robinson, including drafts of several published plays are also part of the collection. The repository retained the collector's original order. In most series materials are arranged by type of performance, venue, and date. The exception is series 5, Individual performers where some programs featuring well-known performers such as Judy Garland and Marlene Dietrich, have been arranged by performer irrespective of venue or type of performance. Folder/file titles were provided by the processor. The number in parentheses following each folder title reflects the number of programs/items in each folder.
