Physical Description

7" x 11.5", 8 pages, bound in textured black leather. Photographs are tiled in the album and affixed with specialized cloth tape fasteners. Slightly chipped holographic spine label. Contains 200 black and white photographs measure approximately 4.5" x 3", captions written in ink on the verso of several of the images.

General

A photographic album with detailed images of specialized materials used in the construction of dams and bridges in Los Angeles following the catastrophic 1938 flooding which lead to the deaths of more than 100 people. The photographs appear to have been taken for quality control documentation purposes. Photographs show the manufacture of the Prado Dam gates and other equipment produced by Philips and Davies Inc. in Kenton, Ohio and photographs of parts constructed by the Pomona Pump Company for the construction of the San Fernando Road Bridge near Glendale.
