Physical Description
10" x 13" oblong quarto. String-tied black leather over stiff paper boards with "Photographs" stamped in gilt on the the front. Album contains 219 sepia toned or black and white silver gelatin photographs measuring between 1"x1" and 8" x 10". Captioned in white ink.
General
Kept by an unnamed young woman during WWII, this album contains photographs of soldiers, presumed to be the woman's friends and sweethearts, some labelled with their names, rank, and home state. She has numerous photos of men at their barracks and vaious theaters throughout the war. The men are seen posed by tents, in full uniform, and doing maual albor. Some were taken in Hawaii. Later photos show the young woman at the beach and the Rockefeller center in New York. Other war related images show photos of collages with poetry pertaining to the conflict from the perspective of a Seabee with pinup girls, army photography, and cartoons around them. Another section shows images from a Bob Hoe U.S.O. show.
