Biography / Administrative History

Kenneth L. Cooke was born on August 13, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1942 he attended Pomona College and served in the Navy as a radar and radio technician for two years during World War II. In 1947 he graduated from Pomona with a degree in mathematics, and earned a master’s and doctorate degree in mathematics from Stanford University. He taught at Washington State University, and then in 1957 began teaching at Pomona College. Cooke had an interest in mathematical biology, particularly that of epidemics such as AIDS. He died on August 25, 2007 in Claremont.
