The CGU History 304/Introduction to Oral History Methodology course trains graduate students in both the theoretical and practical aspects of conducting oral histories. For Spring 2019, the theme for the course was “Women of Color in Southern California.” Students interviewed women of color from a wide range of backgrounds, including academics, students, professionals, and activists.

All abstracts were written by the interviewer.

Abstract Vanessa Tyson is currently a tenured Assistant Professor at Scripps College in Claremont, California in the Political Science department. As a Black Feminist scholar, she has focused much of her research on issues of race and ethnicity in policy and political processes. Vanessa published her first book "Twists of Fate: Multiracial Coalitions and Minority Representation in the US House of Representatives" in 2016.
