Arnold (Matthew) Collection

Scope and Contents

The Matthew Arnold Collection represents the writings of Matthew Arnold 1822-1888 with 437 volumes of his works, among these all but two first editions of his writings; four autographed letters; biographical and critical items pertaining to this author; and other letters of literary interest. Contributions to journals by and about Arnold are part of the collection. Originally purchased in 1942, the collection has been augmented over the years.

Japanese Women's Contemporary Artist Zines

Abstract

Collection of 124 zines, all created by young female Japanese artists. These publications represent the entire output of the "Feminine" show - an exhibition of zines curated by Tokyo store Zine's Mate, presented exclusively at the 2011 New York Art Book Fair. This collection reflects an important trend in underground print publishing among young women in Japan, and captures the zeitgeist of an exploding cultural phenomenon.

Abstract The Marianne Moore (1887-1972) papers include photos, correspondence, articles, writings, and interviews related to the life and work of the American poet. Her cousin, Mary Louise Schneeberger, had a daughter named Paula who attended Scripps and graduated in 1956. That same year, Moore visited the campus in October.
