Abstract: Dr. Frank Parkhurst Brackett was born in Provincetown, Mass. in 1865. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1887. Immediately after he graduated he moved to California. In 1887, he taught at the McPherron Academy for boys in Los Angeles. In 1889 he married Lucretia Burdick in Pomona, California. He taught astronomy, mathematics, and Latin at Pomona College from 1892 to 1932. In 1912, he took a sabbatical to travel to Algeria to conduct experiments on government funded research project....

A collection of approximately 70 letters with several accompanying photographs, occasional handwritten illustrations, and postcards from Sergeant Wilfred D. Carnes, an Au Sable Forks, New York native to his family while serving in World War II from 1943 until 1945. The collection also contains correspondence received by Carnes and an application for National Service life insurance.
