Abstract This collection contains materials relating to Barbary McCarthy's time on the Citizens Advisory Committee of the Joint Committee on the Public Education System. These materials include a variety of correspondence, reports, and other administrative papers. The committee was charged with investigating California's public education system and make recommendations for changes deemed necessary. Mrs. McCarthy was herself an English teacher at the Sun Valley Junior High School in Van Nuys, California.
