Abstract: Dr. Frank Parkhurst Brackett was born in Provincetown, Mass. in 1865. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1887. Immediately after he graduated he moved to California. In 1887, he taught at the McPherron Academy for boys in Los Angeles. In 1889 he married Lucretia Burdick in Pomona, California. He taught astronomy, mathematics, and Latin at Pomona College from 1892 to 1932. In 1912, he took a sabbatical to travel to Algeria to conduct experiments on government funded research project....

Abstract Professor Ch'en Shou-yi (Chinese: 陳受頤, 1899-1978) was a Chinese scholar known for his groundbreaking contribution to the comparative cultural studies of modern China and the historical studies of Sino-Western cultural exchange. He was born into a prestigious literati family in Panyu, Canton (Guangdong). Ch'en Shou-yi graduated from the Canton Christian College (later Lingnan University) in 1920. This collection contains the personal papers of violinist Kenneth G. Fiske, who joined the Pomona College faculty in 1936. A musical prodigy, Fiske studied at many prestigious music programs and under prominent European and American instructors. At Pomona, Fiske taught the violin and was the conductor of the college's symphony orchestra. Materials include correspondence, sheet music, audio recordings, writings, and teaching materials.
