The collection features materials belonging to Pomona College music professor Arthur Hitchcock, including 20 manuscripts of musical compositions written by Hitchcock; personal papers and correspondence; programs for Arthur Hitchcock’s performances and student performances at Pomona College, Brown University, and Portland State University; music manuscript scores by Leo Rowlands, Charles Davis Tillman, and Gustav Holst; and miscellaneous writings, books, programs, and clippings from the 20th century.

Note

Contains two clippings. The first clipping is the front page of the Providence Journal: September 22, 1938, containing an account of the hurricane that inspired Hitchcock's ballet and two articles about the cession of the Sudatenland to Germany. The second clipping is the fourth page of the Providence Sunday Journal (dated March of an unknown year) in the women's activities section, concerning the development of "The Hurricane" into a ballet.
